Three Ways to Calm a Fussy Newborn

If you’re struggling with a fussy newborn and you feel like NOTHING you do is working just know that you are not alone and you are not doing anything wrong! Newborns cry, a lot. Here are three ways to get your newborn calm.

  1. Bath – offer your little one a bath, or better yet, have a bath with them! Skin-to-skin can help regulate your baby and in turn, calm them down

  2. Get outside – fresh air is good for everyone, newborns included. As a bonus, they can soak up some vitamin D.

  3. Babywear – rocking, bouncing, or just moving with your little one can help calm them down. Babywearing also has the benefit of skin-to-skin contact while giving you the opportunity to have your hands free. For the last 10 months, they’ve been bouncing around in the womb so they’re very used to movement. Keeping them in motion can also be a great way to get them to sleep.

If you’re still having challenges with a fussy baby, ensure they are not overtired, hungry, or need a diaper change.
